Digital networking is not spam
Sending mass LinkedIn messages is not networking. Effective digital networking is building genuine relationships through value, consistency, and generosity. Quality over quantity always.
LinkedIn as the main platform
Complete your profile to 100%. Publish useful content 2-3 times per week. Comment on industry posts with added value. Connect with relevant people with a personalized message.
Twitter/X for technical communities
Twitter is excellent for connecting with founders, developers, and builders. Share your process, your learnings, and your failures. Authenticity connects more than corporate perfection.
Niche communities
Find communities where your target audience hangs out. Slack groups like Ramp, Indie Hackers, Product Hunt. Participate genuinely: help without expecting anything in return.
The art of follow-up
Connecting is just the first step. Give context: "I saw your post about X, it was interesting because we're doing Y." Offer value before asking for anything. Be specific.
Virtual events
Webinars, online conferences, Twitter Spaces. Participate actively: ask questions, share your perspective, offer help. After the event, connect with 3-5 relevant people with a personalized message.
Personal CRM
Use a simple system (Airtable, Notion) to track connections. Note where you met someone, what you talked about, when to follow up. Consistent networking beats intensive but sporadic networking.
